See What We Have Accomplished

Women's Opportunity Awards
Since 1972, the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards program has provided women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families with the financial resources to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. The award can be used for tuition, books, childcare, carfare or any other education-related expense. The Fremont club will provide a cash grant to its award recipient, who will then advance to the Soroptimist Founder Region level, where one recipient will receive $5,000. The program culminates with three finalist $10,000 awards.

Violet Richardson Awards
The Violet Richardson Award honors young women, between the ages of 14 and 17, for volunteer action such as fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimination and poverty.

Every Home Safe
The prevention and elimination of domestic violence is a Soroptimist priority. SI Fremont participated in the distribution of the booklet 'Every Home a Safe Home' in local workplaces with the goal of helping victims obtain assistance and underscoring the importance of domestic violence as a workplace issue---not just a private, family matter.

Pretty Bags - The SI Fremont members collected and donated full size soaps, shampoos, nail polishes, brushes and combs by the hundreds. Also donated were small cosmetic bags to insert the items in to. The members got together one evening and packaged the toiletries into the bags. The bags were then presented to the local women in the SAVE shelters for the holidays.

SOS Kids - the SI Fremont members donated Backpacks and child-sized suitcases, along with dozens of small stuffed animals. The members got together for an evening and inserted the stuffed animals into the backpacks and suitcases and the finished items were then donated to children in the community who are in the Foster care programs. These children will now have something to call their own as they pack their belongings.
